ACTION WOMAN ON SUNDAY'S SHOW (24 August)

My guest on Sunday morning is something of an Action Woman. She's
walked over hot coals (literally, and several times), snow-biked in grizzly bear country, scuba dived among giant turtles in the Caribbean, and is a successful businesswoman on the island. And she takes action to help feed some of the world's undernourished children. Debbie Cameron joins
me this Sunday to talk about Nourish the Children.

Also on the show is Jane Hagan (Associated Marine Services, Santanyí), who'll be telling us about events happening in the south-east of Mallorca. And if you have a fig tree in your garden, Jane has some suggestions for using this summer's figtastic crop!

PAUL ABREY, HM CONSUL FOR MALLORCA ON SUNDAY SHOW AUGUST 10

One of the things I particularly enjoy about working at Radio One Marratxí is chatting to my guests - some of the many fascinating people who live and work on Mallorca.

Join me this Sunday for a glimpse into the life and work of Paul Abrey, HM Consul for the island.

The British Consulate offers a host of services to help British residents and holidaymakers. Find out more these and about Her Majesty's representative at the helm on Sunday, August 10, between 10am and 1pm.

Cheers! Jan

ALLEN GRAHAM CHARITY 4 KIDZ NEEDS SHOP STOCK

Another Sunday morning show appeal was broadcast by Joy, who - with the help of a hard-working team of volunteers - runs the recently-opened Allen Graham Charity 4 Kidz shop in Puerto Pollensa (C/Medico Llopis, 12).

The shop's doing very well, converting people's unwanted items into cash for this much-loved and respected children's charity on the island. In fact, it's doing so well, they need more stock! Donations of clothes, books, CDs, DVDs etc – the usual type of items welcomed by charity shops – can be dropped off weekdays at the shop between 10am and 4pm.

By the way, the Allen Graham Charity 4 Kidz has been given official status as the Allen Graham Foundation. Their new website will soon be available.

Cheers! Jan, Sundays 10am-1pm

ANNA'S APPEAL FOR CHILDREN'S CLOTHES

If you missed last Sunday's show (August 3), you won't have heard local author and Majorca Daily Bulletin columnist Anna Nicholas talking about her upcoming scientific expedition to Borneo. Anna also mentioned the marathon she'll be running in Athens in November to raise money for the Scientific Exploration Society and also an orphanage she supports in Sri Lanka.

Anna broadcast an appeal for any children's clothes you might have that are no longer needed - obviously in good condition - as she'll be able to take some items out to Sri Lanka during her planned visit in December. Most of the orphans are girls and all ages from babies upwards.
If you wish to donate any items please contact Anna via the Majorca Daily Bulletin.

I'm full of admiration for Anna, who seems to achieve so much (it's all down to hard work and discipline, she told me). She recently joined Vicki and Oliver on their Saturday show to talk about, and read from, her new book – Cat on a Hot Tiled Roof (Summersdale) – published this week. We wish her well with her current round of book signings!

Cheers! Jan Edwards, Sundays 10am-1pm
